QUESTION: Would it ever make sense to send a video resume if I’m not an actor or influencer?
Scott Gardner, Vitae Express
Only if the video adds value or was directly requested. At that point, a short and professional clip can show communication skills or presence. Speak naturally and avoid reading from a script. Keep it brief, on-brand, and relevant to the role. Remember, a video should support the resume, not replace it, and should be on brand and in line with the other career marketing items you are putting out.
Laura Fontenot, Masterwork Resumes
Video resumes work best in creative or client-facing roles—think marketing, sales, or design—where showing personality matters. Always send it WITH your traditional resume, never instead of it. If you’re confident and it fits the job, go for it; otherwise, wait until they ask!
