My opinion is that this is not the place to get overly creative; creative/grand gestures backfire more often than not. However, you can send an e-note or LinkedIn message to the hiring manager that briefly states how you align with the requirements of the position, demonstrates your impact for previous employers, and conveys your genuine interest in the role. It gives employers a chance to see your personality, enthusiasm, and communication skills firsthand, while you can quickly convey why you’re a strong fit for the role. Since the purpose of a cover letter is to ‘introduce’ the resume & why they should hire you, try sending a short, high-impact email in an XYZ statement: Hello [Manager]: I’m excited to apply for the [role].
